He has been credited with introducing some long-awaited reforms and initiatives in the country. Here are some of the achievements of Modi for India in various sectors.

Modi enacted the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) in 2016, which streamlined the process of resolving bad debts and liquidating insolvent companies. This improved the ease of doing business and boosted investor confidence.

Social Welfare Modi initiated the Swachh Bharat campaign in 2014, which aimed to make India an open-defecation free (ODF) country by 2019. He personally motivated people to build toilets, improve sanitation and adopt cleanliness habits. The campaign has resulted in more than 100 million toilets being built and more than 600 districts being declared ODF.
Modi distributed free LPG cylinders to more than 80 million poor households under the Ujjwala Yojana scheme, which reduced indoor air pollution and improved the health and safety of women.

Modi launched the Jan Dhan Yojana scheme in 2014, which opened more than 400 million bank accounts for the unbanked population, enabling them to access financial services and benefits.

SecurityModi authorized the surgical strikes in 2016 and the Balakot air strike in 2019, which targeted terrorist camps across the border in Pakistan. These actions demonstrated India’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and security against external threats.
Modi implemented the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme in 2015, which granted equal pension to retired military personnel of the same rank and length of service. This fulfilled a long-standing demand of the ex-servicemen community.

Modi abolished Article 370 and Article 35A of the constitution in 2019, which granted special status and privileges to Jammu and Kashmir. He also bifurcated the state into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. These steps were aimed at integrating the region with the rest of India and ensuring its development and security.

Other AchievementsModi resolved the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute in 2019, which had been pending for decades. He laid the foundation stone for a grand temple at Ayodhya, where Hindus believe Lord Ram was born.

Modi outlawed Triple Talaq in 2019, which allowed Muslim men to divorce their wives by uttering “talaq” three times. He passed a law that made this practice a criminal offense, thereby protecting the rights and dignity of Muslim women.

Modi led India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic with early steps such as imposing a nationwide lockdown, ramping up medical infrastructure, launching vaccination drives and providing relief packages to the poor and vulnerable sections of society.

Modi set an ambitious target of making India a $5 trillion economy by 2025, which would require an annual growth rate of around 8%. He launched various schemes and policies to promote manufacturing, infrastructure, innovation, digitalization and foreign investment.
